Gateway to the Bay is a planning tool. It is not a nautical chart, and it must not be used as one. Nothing on this site or its map replaces official charts, a GPS chartplotter, tide tables, weather forecasts or the notices to mariners published by Maritime Safety Queensland. Ramps close, sandbanks move, channels silt up and markers are moved, and a page can be out of date the day after it was checked.

You are responsible for your vessel, your passengers and your decisions on the water. Check the official sources before you go, and trust what you can see over what we have written.

Accuracy

We do our best. Places are visited and checked where we can, each page shows when its facts were last verified, and we correct what we are told is wrong. Even so, nothing here is guaranteed to be accurate, complete or current. If something is wrong, tell us through the contact page.

Using the site

The site and map are for personal use. You are welcome to share a page or a trip link. Please do not scrape the dataset, republish it wholesale or pass it off as your own.

Business listings

Free and sponsored business listings are something we plan to offer, but that is down the track rather than right now. If you run a marine business and would like a listing when they open, get in touch through the contact page and we will note your details.

When listings do open, sponsored listings will be labelled “Sponsored” so that advertising is always recognisable as advertising. A listing is not an endorsement, and we are not a party to anything you arrange with a business. Deal with them directly.

Links to other sites

Pages link out to parks services, councils, businesses, sources and more. Those sites are not ours, we do not control them, and we do not check them on your behalf.

Intellectual property

The text and photographs on this site belong to Gateway to the Bay or are used with the credit shown beside them. Please ask before reusing a photograph. The base map is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence, and the map is drawn with Leaflet.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss, damage or injury arising from the use of this site or its map, including from information that is wrong or out of date. Nothing here excludes any guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.

Changes

When these terms change, the date at the top changes with them.
